Major Differences between dBaseIII+ and dBaseIV

dBase IV is an important version of dBase III+.  Apart from the enhancement in Local Area Network (LAN) for multi-users, dBase IV has the following main features predominating over dBase III+:
  1. more powerful in functionality and easier to use;
  2. additon of more than 300 new commands and functions;
  3. replacement of the ASSISTANT menu in dBase IIII+ with a more powerful relational file system, the Control Centre Menu (which is in fact the enhancement);
  4. major improvement in indexingl
  5. managing multiple file relations;
  6. a more effective Query by Example interface;
  7. enhancements in Screen Form Painter, Report Generator and Application Generator;
  8. addition of new window and menu-driven features;
  9. addition of two-dimensional array;
  10. addition of user-defined functions;
  11. enhancement and addition of mathematical, financial and statistical functions;
  12. enhanced printing capacity, such as bold, italic, subscript and superscript with selected fonts;
  13. enhanced editors, and;
  14. built-in compiler.
